This 14-day journey conquers the breathtaking Island Peak (6189m), which is one of the most desirable peaks in the Everest region. Avid mountaineers take up island peak as a beginning of their mountaineering journey and this peak has hence evolved as a perfect practice peak for climbing other 8000 m high peaks. The peak lies in the middle of the Chhukung Valley like an island in the sea of ice. The top of the peak offers the mind-boggling views of the snowcapped beauties like Everest, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam and other smaller peaks.

 

The technicality of the climbing expedition to Island peak is difficult and requires a good physique. Technical portions are lesser and your team of guides will help you uncover the mystery of the Everest Region of Nepal. Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu

Arrive Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel.

Accommodation will be at Hotel in Kathmandu.

 Day 02: Sightseeing tour and permit issuance

Full-day sightseeing tour in Kathmandu covering 4 UNESCO Heritage sites which includes Pashupatinath temple, Boudhnath stupa, Swoyambhunath stupa and Patan Durbar Square.

 Today we will be also applying the necessary permits required and briefing will be done in the evening at your hotel or our office.

Accommodation will be at Hotel in Kathmandu. Meals included today is Breakfast

 Day 03: Fly Kathmandu/Lukla (2860m) and Trek Phakding (2610m) – 3 hrs walk

Early morning you will meet your trekking guide and together transferred to Kathmandu Domestic airport to board flight to Lukla. This flight itself is known for fantastic aerial view of Mountain ranges. Upon arrival at Lukla, your guide will introduce you with other trekking members. Start your trek to Pkhading. You will walk to 3 hours today for better acclimatization process.

Accommodation will be at Local Lodge. Meals included today are lunch & dinner at lodge. 

Day 04: Trek Namche Bazaar (3440m) – 6 hrs walk

Enjoy your breakfast at lodge and start the trekking trail that follow Dudh Koshi River. You will cross famous Double Suspension Bridge and uphill climb with rewarding Mountain views will leads to Namche Bazaar which is largest settlement of Sherpa community in Nepal. Sherpas are the indigenous people of Nepal known for the climbing skills. On each expedition on the peaks above 8000meters especially in South Asian region you require expertise and help of Sherpa to make ascend successful. Free time on own to stroll around local town at your own pace.

Accommodation will be at Local Lodge. Meals included today are breakfast, lunch en-route & dinner at lodge. 

Day 05: Acclimation day

Day is free for acclimatization. To ease this process we recommend you day excursion to Syangboche located at altitude of 3780 meters to get best panoramic views of Tawache, Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku mountains.  Also visit famous “Everest View Hotel” featured as the highest placed hotel in world. Return back to Namche for overnight.

Meals included today are breakfast, lunch en-route and dinner at lodge in Namche.

Day 06: Trek Tengboche (3867m) – 5 hrs walk

Today trek will take you to Tengboche which is known for excellent view of Ama Dablam valley with Everest skyline. Tengboche is also known for the largest Buddhist monastery in Everest region “Tengboche Monastery” which host annual Mani Rimdu festival celebrated by Sherpa communities. You can witness evening rituals at monastery or relax at your lodge admiring the beautiful mountain views.

Accommodation will be at Local Lodge. Meals included today are breakfast, lunch & dinner at lodge. 

Day 07: Trek Dingboche (4410m) – 5 hrs walk

Morning enjoy breakfast at your lodge. Your guide will fix a time for today walk and meet you at exact time to start today’s trek. Today you will walk for 5 hours to reach to Dingboche located on the Glacier line of Imja and Duwo Glacier in Chukhung valley. You will cross typical Sherpa settlements like Deboche, Pangboche & Shomare. Check-in at your lodge.

Accommodation will be at Local Lodge. Meals included today are breakfast, lunch en-route & dinner at lodge. 

Day 08: Trek to Chhukung (4,730mt) – 6 hours walk

After breakfast, trek to Chhukung valley. Once we reach Chukkung we will meet the climbing leader who will be taking you to Island peak. Necessary warm-up and briefing will be done with climbing equipments checking and orientation.

Accommodation will be at Local Lodge. Meals included today are breakfast, lunch en-route & dinner at lodge. 

Day 09: Chhukung to Island Peak Base camp (5,200m) – 4 hours climb

Follow your Climbing guide who will lead you to Island Base Camp. Today trail is fairly steep following east to the Chhukung valley. You will see Lhotse Glacier and Amaphu Labtsa pass along the route. Amaphu Labtsa pass is considered as one of the difficult pass and will be done if you will be combining Isalnd Peak with Mera Peak though the same pass. In this itinerary you will not follow this trail. A zigzag route through the Imja Glacier and Lhotse Glacier moraines will take you to South West of Island Peak Base Camp.

Accommodation will be at Tented Camp. Meals included today are breakfast at Lodge, lunch and dinner at Camp. 

 Day 10: Climb to Island Peak High Camp

To make our next day climb easier, you will climb up to High camp. This will also give us the technical knowledge with Crevasse and walking on Blue Ice, rope with climbing technique need to follow. A camping at High camp will be good for acclimatization for your body to cope summit altitude.

Accommodation will be at Tented Camp. Meals included today are breakfast, lunch and dinner at Camp. 

 Day 11: Island PeakSummit and back to Base Camp (5,600m) – 8 hours

You will start your climb early morning to avoid blowing strong wind and melting ice by the sun heat in afternoon. Start early means double the chance of successful climbing on every summit. Reach to the top of Island Peak (6189m). The view from the top is astonishing. Cheer your success and moments with snap photograph. Ater spending some time at top, start descend to Base camp.

Accommodation will be at Tented Camp. Meals included today are breakfast, lunch and dinner at Camp. 

Day 12: Island Peak Base Camp to Tengboche – 6 hours walk

Today you will walk down hill to Tengboche. If you feel exhausted then can short the trek to Pangboche.

Accommodation will be at Local Lodge. Meals included today are breakfast, lunch en-route & dinner at lodge. 

 Day 13: Tengboche to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) – 5 hours walk

Trek down to Namche Bazaar. Free in the afternoon to stroll around local town.

Accommodation will be at Local Lodge. Meals included today are breakfast, lunch en-route & dinner at lodge. 

Day 14: Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2,800m) – 7 hours walk

After breakfast at local lodge, start your trek with trekking crew to Lukla. Check-in at lodge. Rest of the day is free on own per personal activities.

Accommodation will be at Local Lodge. Meals included today are breakfast, lunch en-route & dinner at lodge.

Day 15: Fly to Kathmandu (1,350m)

Fly back to Kathmandu and upon arrival, transfer to hotel.

Overnight at Hotel in Kathmandu

 Day 16: Departure transfer

Transfer to Kathmandu airport in time to board flight back home.
