Trip Introduction

As one of the holiest rivers in Nepal, the Kali GandakiRiver is named after the Hindu Goddess of Destruction – Kali.Rafting in Kaligandaki cuts through theKaliganki Gorge, plummeting down between the Annapurna range and Dhaulagiri, it is the deepest gorge in the world. This rafting includes not only the excitement of being in the strong waves in white water but also shows for great view of jungles, traditional villages, waterfalls, wildlife and beautiful sand beaches along the way.Sacred cremation beaches can be seen during the rafting where the dead bodied are burnt sending the souls to afterlife.

We start our journey from Kathmandu as we drive to Pokhara and then to Nayapul. Reaching there we will go on a short trek to ModiKhola- our put in point. Starting our rafting trip we cross various rapids and reach Purtighat where we camp on the sand beach. Next day, we continue to Setibini and reach Mirmi- our take out point after which we will take a 4 hours’ drive back to Pokhara. The rafting offers over 60 km of white waters, with the beautiful view along with the strong currents that makes this an adventure with the thrill as well as serenity of the nature.

The rapids are classified as 4+ grade according to the international rafting grades. Considered to be more challenging than Trishuli- the rapids are more technical and continuous. Initially, there are a lot of Grade 1 rapid but as we proceed, the water current rises and so does the level of the rapid. Tougher rapid includes rapids like Cobra rapid and Wake and Bake rapid which needs perfect synchronization, precision and timing. With strong boulders and serpent like water current you will face the thrill of our life time making the entire journey even more satisfying.
